Homemade Falafel Using a PURE Juicer

Yield: 12 falafel

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

Homemade falafel made with a PURE Juicer is fast, easy, and as fresh as can be.

Preheat your oven or air fryer to 450 degrees. Line pan or air fryer basket with parchment paper.

Grind ingredients through stage one. For a smooth texture, use the #10 grid; if you prefer the texture coarse, use a #12. (If you’ve made our homemade hummus, you’ll note that the only difference in this particular recipe is grid size; the ingredients are the same.)

Spoon mixture into your hands and form it into a disc shape. A cookie scoop or mid-size spoon can help with sizing. Space falafel evenly on parchment paper.

Bake falafel for 8 minutes, then flip to crisp the other side. Bake for another 4 minutes.

Ingredients:

1 can chickpeas (15oz) drained. Or 2 cups of soaked and cooked chickpeas.

3-5 garlic cloves

1/2 cup of cilantro (and parsley if you have it)

salt & pepper to taste

Pro Tip: make falafel pita sandwiches with tahini dressing (tahini + water), tomato, onion, jalapeño, cilantro, parsley, and feta.

Health Benefits:

chickpeas: high in fiber, low on the glycemic index, and considered to be a whole protein, these legumes pack a nutritional punch. A good source of polyunsaturated fats and low in cholesterol, a diet including chickpeas can regulate blood sugar levels and mitigate risk of heart disease.

tahini: made from ground sesame seeds, tahini is rich in anti-inflammatory monounsaturated fats and contains a variety of vitamins that can aid in bone health and energy production.

lemon: high in vitamin C and citric acid, lemons aid in iron absorption and could possibly prevent kidney stones. Several plant compounds found in lemons may lower cholesterol.

red pepper: bell peppers are high in antioxidants and vitamin C, as well as other important vitamins and minerals like vitamin B6, vitamin K1, vitamin A, vitamin E, folate, and potassium.

cumin: promotes digestion, prevents food-borne infections, and can help improve cholesterol and control blood sugar levels.

green balls of healthy food

garlic: garlic can boost immunity, improve blood pressure, and even protect raw food from bacteria that causes food poisoning.
